Language Arts: Literacy Project

The To Kill a Mockingbird Literacy Project showcased some of my best work because I put a lot of thought and time into not just creating a standard word search but instead went above the requirements to make something that I felt proud of.  In this project, students were required to create a product based on a portion of To Kill a Mockingbird.  These products could be an article, word search, or anything that shows the student's understanding of the novel. The final product was that all of these products would be brought together into one website that was creating by a group of students in our class.  Though the drawings are simple rather than the classic detailed comic book style, they still showed the action and what actually happened at the end of the book.  I chose to create this comic because I originally didn't understand what had happened while reading the end of the book for the first time and had to look back over it and read it several times.  By creating the comic, I helped myself and anyone else who was confused understand the action in one of the last scenes of To Kill a Mockingbird.

One of my best pieces of writing this year was my To Kill a Mockingbird Essay about Atticus's decision to take a stand for Tom Robinson.  I believe that Atticus did the right thing to set an example for his kids and to stay true to his moral values.  While revising this essay, I made sure to include the best evidence I could to back up my claim and ensured that every word I used backed up my thesis in the best way it could.
